St. Patrick's Higher Secondary School

St. Patrick's Asansol, West Bengal was founded in 1891, by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, a Catholic society from Ireland that has undertaken missionary and educational work worldwide. This group, also informally known as the Christian Brothers, was founded by Edmund Rice. St. Patrick's School, Asansol is one of the 19 Christian Brothers Schools in India. For a brief span during the Second World War, the administration of the School was under the Jesuit Mission of Patna and the school was shifted to Kurji.

A G Church School Asansol

The School was inaugurated on 2nd April, 1984 under the leadership of Dr R Shaw and other officials of A.G. Church, Kolkata. Mrs Shikha Roychowdhury was the headmistress and classes started from April 16, 1984. The first batch of 13 students appeared in the ICSE Class X examinations from A.G. Asansol. The school obtained recognistion on 1st December 1992 and Mr FrankFreese was appointed as headmaster. In 1993 the school was affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi. The first batch of AISSE (Class X) appeared from Sainik School, Purulia. In 1994, the new school building was started. In April 1995, the school was upgraded to Class XII with Science and Commerce streams and Mr Frank Freese was appointed as first Principal of Purulia school. The Lower Nursery Block and New School building was constructed in 1995. Mr. Conrad Das served as Principal for a short time. In 1999 and 2000 the Humanities stream was introduced. Mrs Maria Norman joined the school as Principal from 14th November 2001. The school has a total student strength of 1346 (600 girls and 746 boys), 46 teaching staff, 9 office staff, 18 IV grade staff and 5 computer staff.

St. Vincent's High & Technical School

St. Vincent’s founded in 1919 is one of the 26 CB schools in India. Academically par excellence, the games down the years have been a major characteristic of the School life. Our past pupils are to be found around the world as well as all over India and they remember St. Vincent’s with pride. St. Vincent de Paul is the patron Saint of our school. The Christian brothers have worked for almost a century in St. Vincent’s School and many of their stalwarts are buried in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
